Favored (?) of the Lord

My current obsession (or it was until they relegated me to the nursery, so I couldn't study scriptures at church anymore - other than during Sacrament talks)

The only search results in the old testament for "favored" are in the headings.
Yet the old testament seems to have the concept of "favor" permeate it.
The new testament is likewise devoid of the word "favor."
There are 4 in the D&C, and 26 in the Book of Mormon.
Are we being taught a concept "plainly" that was just understood culturally by the Jews?
(But the concept of the world isn't the same as the gospel concept.
So what is the gospel concept?)
Is the gospel concept really that you are blessed and that blessing is seen as favor but that the blessing is actually a result of asking/seeking/knocking.
The bible dictionary seems to equate "favor" with "election." (and the election entry is not quite correct)

Note: The total population of the Jewish people is less than a statistical error in the annual birth rate of the Chinese people.
Why favor so few if God loves us all equally?
